The upcoming spinoff of AMC’s The Walking Dead is set to take place in Los Angeles, reports TVLine. Though it’s not clear whether the spinoff will be filmed in LA or elsewhere – The Walking Dead is currently filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, where the show is set.
The Walking Dead has been one of TV’s biggest hits, and both AMC and The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, have expressed interest in telling stories outside of the main group.
AMC has stated that TWD: 2.0 will shed light on a previously unseen part of the zombie outbreak, possibly one where the living outnumber the undead. “Almost from the beginning of The Walking Dead (which is set in Atlanta), fans have been curious about what is going on in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world,” AMC President Charlie Collier said in September. The show will be penned by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and current show runner David Erickson.
The pilot is set to shoot in early 2015, so its a safe bet that we’ll get to check out the new Walking Dead show sometime in summer.
