Sources tell Deadline that Krysten Ritter (Don’t Trust the B, Breaking Bad) has been cast as Jessica Jones in the upcoming Marvel/Netflix show revolving around Jessica Jones. Marvel hasn’t made an official announcement but Deadline and their sources are usually on point.
Marvel is developing 4 new series’ exclusively with Netflix, the first of which is DareDevil. The other two shows will be based on Luke Cage and Iron Fist respectively. While no official statement has been made regarding Luke Cage, Deadline also reports that The Following‘s Mike Colter is pretty much locked in for the role.
Marvel’s Jessica Jones, adapted from Brian Bendis’s comic series Alias, follows a superhero afflicted with PTSD, which forces to her hang up her costume and open her own detective agency. Its a pretty cool read, and Bendis is a terrific story teller (House of M, Ultimate Spiderman) winning multiple Eisner awards. Ritter is a top notch choice for the role, being able to pull off a potent combination of strong, dark, charming, and funny.
