Negotiations between C.O.W.L and the city of Chicago are starting to heat up in the third installment of this superhero, crime series. Honestly though, that seemed to be the only thing that was heating up. It is starting to look like we have three ongoing sub-arcs inside of the book. There is the ever present C.O.W.L contract negotiations. The continuing internal investigation with John Pierce and his quest to find out how Skylancer obtained C.O.W.L weapon designs. Not to mention the developing tale of the crime boss Camden Stone. What is impressive is that Kyle Higgins and Alec Siegel were able to, slowly but surely, move along each of the plots as well as providing impressive character development for Radia, ALL IN ONE ISSUE!!!!
The story definately has been toning down in the whole, superhero, action aspect since the first issue. Like I said the plot has been SLOWLY developing, however it seems like it will lead to something great, and I’m down for plot development any day. But it does bug me how little of the super hero aspect we have been seeing. I mean it is supposed to be a semi-superhero book right? It seems to be turning more and more into a crime-drama. Which is necessarily a bad thing. Issue three provided great backstory and character development for Raidia. It was done beautifully. I also noticed that all these characters seem to have great chemistry together. The art is mind-blowing as always. Although the pacing was slow this issue, the payoff will hopefully be rewarding. You know what they say, slow and steady wins the race.
