X-Men: Days of Future Past Review…Non Spoiler

Did X-Men: Days of Future Past live up to the hype? Did Bryan Singer finally make the best X-Men movie yet?

And there is one word to answer this question….YES!!!!!! X-Men DOFP did not only live up the hype and the excitement that I got from the trailers but it exceeded my expectations. The only concern I had with the movie was jumping back and forth from the future to the past, but this movie did not confuse me one but. DOFP starts out in the future then more than half of the movie takes place in the past until the final act where it bounces back between the future and past. But this movie did it so well that it worked. The story, acting, and characters were phenomenal and over all was an awesome movie.

When it comes to the characters in this movie we had to know that it would be hard to get to really know all the new characters and that is the case. Bishop, Blink, Sunspot and Warpath were all awesome additions. I will say after seeing this movie that Warpath was not really that exciting but it did not matter. Fassbender (Young Magneto) and MacAvoy (Young Xavier) were once again the best choices to play the young versions of these two iconic X-Men characters and blew me away again. Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique has come a long way since First Class but once again nails the role. I don’t even have to say anything about Hugh Jackman we all know he is great as Wolverine but it was awesome to see him take the role as an inspiration/guide for young Xavier. Also Quicksilver was a surprise, do not let that costume bother you. Evan Peters was a great choice to play the character and it will be interesting to see if the Avengers version is better. I also don’t have to say anything about Peter Dinklage as well cause we all know he nails every role he is in. There was not one actor or character in this movie that after watching the movie I was disappointed in. I would rate the characters in this movie 9.5/10

We all know the story for this movie based on the trailers we all saw. But a little refresher just incase you have been under a rock and did not see any previews. The future is a wasteland and Mutants and humans are on the brink of extinction. The X-Men that consists of Prof. X, Magneto, Wolverine, Ice-Man, Kitty Pryde aka Shadowcat, Storm, Colossus, Bishop, Warpath, Blink, and Sunspot come up with a plan to send back Wolverine into the past to change the future. Wolverine is sent back into his younger self and must re-unite young Xavier and Magneto to stop a certain event from happening. I did think that this movie was going to be all about the X-Men battling the Sentinels but it was more about Young Xavier’s struggle to accept his losses and who he is as well as Mystique’s own personal agenda. It did surprise me how big of a role Mystique was in creating the future that we saw in the movie. That is all I am going to say about the story line cause if I say anything else about it I am going to spoil something for you and that is not what I want to do. I would rate the story a 9.5/10

Now going into this movie I was expecting a non stop action movie, yet again I was wrong. Most of the action takes place during the first and final scene with the occasional fight sequence through out the movie. The battles with the future sentinels (which were Bryan SInger’s version of Nimrod I thought) were awesome. It was nice to see nothing held back whether it was mutant abilities or other moments in the fight scenes. The past sentinels were only used in the final scene as well which was ok. When the action did happen in the movie it was awesome. The combination of mutant abilities in the future was crazy. Blink throwing portals left and right. Storm and Sunspot powering up Bishop was fantastic. And Ice-Man finally gliding on his ice was AMAZING!!! And even though there was not as much action as I thought there would be I still give the action for this movie 9.5/10

In the end, X-Men: Days of Future Past lives up to the hype and is Bryan SInger’s best X-Men movie yet. I also believe that this X-Men is the best one yet. Like Hugh Jackman said this movie changes everything that we saw from the first X-Men to Last Stand. We can throw all those movies out the door. DOFP was able to be a continuation yet be a reboot as well. The after credit scene was a great teaser to X-Men: Apocalypse and I can’t wait for the next movie.

Final rating a 9.5/10- because my favorite X-Men Cyclops has not got the movie/respect that he should. Don’t care if you don’t like Cyclops but he is the leader of the X-Men and in my opinion can’t have the X-Men without him. But that is my only negativity towards this movie but it isn’t really a negative thing about the movie it is my own personal feeling lol. If you love the X-Men movies then go see this movie it is well worth it. It absolutely delivers and you will be pleased.
