#NerdSwag – Most Anticipated Superhero Movie of 2013: Man of Steel

This category may have a few more contenders than you may think right away. This will be another packed big budget year for the superheroes. We also have Iron Man 3, The Wolverine, Thor: The Dark World, and Kick-Ass 2 coming out in 2013. But we here at #NerdSwag think that Man of Steel will be the easy pull away favorite.

Of course we hope the others will be great, but Man of Steel has too much going for it. Zack Snyder always delivers. His movies are stunning and beautiful: 300, Watchmen, Sucker Punch, and even Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole was great. Team him together with Christopher Nolan and you got yourself a star studded roster. Not to mention Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, and of course Henry Cavill as Clark Kent / Superman.

#NerdSwag Supes New 52But what really gives this movie potential is… well let’s be honest; the fact the Superman has sucked lately. Good old Supes is a has been. A goody boy that no one cares about. And most importantly is he has become boring. Trust me, I read the New 52 and that has not brought a new excitement to his character. All the other movies I listed earlier are the 2nd or third movie in the series. This is a #1 re-boot with a shot of adrenaline that I think is going to punch us in the face and remind us why Superman was at the top of pop culture just years ago. They are swinging for the fences on this one, and I believe they are going to knock it out all the way to Krypton.

  1. I would have to agree!! At the time the first Superman movies came out, I was a kid, and kind of liked the first one, but the rest of them were too tounge and cheek for me. Then a few years back they tried again…….and again was not happy with it.
If it’s anything like the way the new Batman movies were done, (and I would think so with Nolan) this will be a very good movie.
