#NerdSwag – Most Anticipated Action Game of 2013: Grand Theft Auto V
How can the most anticipated action game of 2013 not be “Grand Theft Auto V?” It had some serious contention this year, with games like “Bioshock: Infinite” and “Watch Dogs” looming on the horizon, but the king of the open-world action game simply cannot be matched. For me personally, this is the most anticipated game of the last four years, and I can’t wait to see what kind of world Rockstar has in store for us.
Every time Rockstar releases a game, it’s a hit. “Red Dead Redemption” did an excellent job filling the gap between “GTA” entries, and so did the outstanding “Episodes from Liberty City” DLC, but nothing can compare to setting foot in a new world in Rockstar’s paramount franchise. In the case of “GTA V”, the world isn’t fully new, as we are going back to San Andreas, but realized in full HD and with the largest open-world map ever created according to Rockstar.
This game is coming at the dusk hours of the Xbox 360’s and PS3’s life spans, which means to me that they will pull every bit of power out of these aging consoles as they can, and the familiarity they already have with working on them will lead to a very polished experience. I echo the hopes of the community in asking for a PC version, as modding the game and pushing my PC to the point of meltdown for beautiful visuals extended the life of the last entry immensely.
“GTA V” is bringing some interesting changes to the table, including multiple playable protagonists for the first time in the franchise’s history, and a more in depth multiplayer experience, and I admittedly was thrown initially by the announcement of multiple characters, but I have the utmost faith in what Rockstar will do with it’s biggest title, and know they have a good understanding of what their fans want.
Spring can’t come soon enough, and I am fully prepared to disappear into Los Santos for at least a month.
